Characteristics of enamel ceramics
The characteristics of enamel ceramics primarily encompass the following aspects:
Colored-glazed ceramics can exhibit a wide variety of colors—such as white, red, yellow, blue, green, and purple—by mixing different metal oxides and natural minerals into the glaze as coloring agents; each color possesses unique aesthetic characteristics.
Zou Toutoutou: Enamel ceramics appear translucent due to the transparency and luster of their enamel layer. This characteristic imparts a visually high aesthetic appeal to colored enamel ceramics.
Zou’s history is long and illustrious: the history of firing colored-glazed ceramics can be traced back to the Xia Dynasty, and through continuous development and innovation, it has given rise to a rich variety of glaze colors. For example, during the Song Dynasty’s Jun Kiln and the Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong periods of the Qing Dynasty, the techniques for firing colored-glazed ceramics reached their peak.
Zou’s engineering is complex: the firing process for glaze ceramics is intricate and requires precise control of temperature and time. High-temperature glazes are fired in a single firing at temperatures above 1250℃, while low-temperature glazes are typically fired at temperatures ranging from 700℃ to 900℃, often involving a secondary firing.
Zou Mei’s value is high: colored-glaze ceramics win people’s favor thanks to their characteristics such as “luminosity,” “color,” “transparency,” and “purity.” In particular, rare colored-glaze ceramics are even more captivating precisely because of these qualities. Colored-glaze ceramics in different hues reflect the diverse aesthetic tastes of the Chinese people; uniformity and purity are fundamental requirements for single-color glazes, while kiln-transformed flower glazes offer an abstract and hazy beauty.
